With the surging commodity prices and shrinking income, life is getting tougher even for middle income earners. Despite the much acclaimed record-breaking Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of the Philippines, things remained difficult for the average Filipino. Nowadays, it is never enough to keep a savings account to safeguard one self from financial troubles, nor it is prudent to simply save money to get rich.
Any financially literate lad would never recommend stockpiling your cash on Savings Accounts or Time Deposits. This is for the simple reason that Bank interest rates on these funds are way below the average inflation rate of the Philippines. Put it simply, the value of our money depreciates with time as commodity prices constantly increase. Thus we need to find financial instruments that beat the inflation rate.
